Ridester

Ridester

From their FAQ: “Ridester is a road trip marketplace where people can give or get rides within a feedback-rated community.”. Is this safer than hitch-hiking?

Mike The Headless Chicken

“The Amazing, true story of this famous fowl dates back to September 10, 1945 when Mike, a young Wyandotte rooster, was about to become the dinner of Fruita, Colorado, farmer Lloyd Olsen.

With a sharp ax in hand, Mr. Olsen firmly held Mike, preparing to make the bird ready for his wife Clara’s cooking pot. Mr. Olsen swung the implement, thereby lopping off poor Mike’s head. Mike shook off the event, then continued trying to peck for food.”

Teens doing drugs even when parents are home. Yeah right.

“Although many parents might believe that they are staunching drug and alcohol use by being present during their teens’ parties, statistics show a different story. In a national poll, of the nearly 1,300 kids, ages 12 to 17, one third reported using a wide variety of drugs at house parties where parents were present. In a similar telephone poll, 80% percent of parents polled said they were not aware that illegal drugs were available at the parties; however, over 50% of the kids involved knew about the drug use.”

Another study showed that 99% of teens are full of shit. Who does these “studies”?

King of the Jungle Don Benigno Añazco

Picture 23.png

Here’s a real pioneer story. This guy leaves his village and his life and sets out to reclaim and re-use some of the infrastructure left behind by the Incas. He starts by carving a path through some of the thickest jungle on earth and uncovering ruins, roads and other remenants:

“For years at a time, he would pause to farm, always near ruins: Ancient terraces, he discovered, mark fertile soil. Once he deviated from the Inca roads and spent years on a detour that took him into a maze of swamps that proved impassable. There was no food; several of his children died. He backtracked to his original course and continued on, sacrificing everything, including his family’s well-being, for a vision: He would open the jungle all the way to the city of Saposoa, 60 miles east, founding villages along the way. Pineapples would be exchanged for potatoes. The poor of the highlands would farm on land where seeds wouldn’t go to waste. Soon the government would build a modern highway. Hunger would disappear. The glories of the Inca empire would live again.”

Sounds like he runs a tight ship, though. Apparently he shot and killed his son-in-law for suggesting that they build a landing strip for drug dealers — and has the skin of a human-like being hanging in his house. You gotta respect this guys vision and his ruthless ability to execute. No pun intended.
